The
Chamber completed one of its biggest projects, the Town Square in
September of 2002. The square has become the “gathering place for the
community.
The Chamber hosts
grand openings, ribbon cuttings. 25 ribbon cuttings were hosted last
year.
The Chamber
sponsors the Havre Gift certificates Program. Over $179,000.00 worth of
Havre Gift certificates were issued in 2007.
This is a $49,000.00 increase over last year. This is “money” that
stays in the town supporting local chamber member businesses.
The Chamber
sponsors the successful Christmas Cash Program. For 18 years, the
program has been keeping money in Havre supporting Chamber members
businesses. Over $179,000.00 was loaned in 2007.
The Chamber’s
Committee’s also sponsors the Christmas Celebration, Ag Appreciation
Banquet, Holiday Food Drive, Havre Festival Days, Havre PRIDE and
business education workshops.
The Chamber
raised over $4,000.00 to refurbish the holiday pole decorations. In
1995, the Chamber partnered with MT Power to make power available on 45
poles in the core area, so the holiday decoration could be lit.
The Chamber’s
3-on-3 Committee will host the 10th Annual tournament, July
26, 2008.
Over 60 teams
participate in the event.
The Chamber
Tourism Committee works to promote tourism for Havre. The committee
launched a very successful marketing campaign in Medicine Hat in 2007.
The Chamber also is represented on the Russell Country Board of
Directors.
In June of 2004,
Mayor Rice and members of the Board initiated a meeting with the Mayor
of Medicine Hat, to start the dialogue on opening Wild Horse to a
24-hour port.
The Chamber was
successful in 2006, getting a city street vendor ordinance in place.
The Chamber’s
Leadership High School program is in its 8th year. 20
students are participating in this partnership with the Chamber and the
Havre Public Schools. To date 164 students have participated in the
program. We were successful in receiving 2 $1,000 grant from PPL
Montana for the program.
The Chamber’s
Business Development committee developed a CD-ROM, a very successful
recruiting tool used by MSU-Northern, Northern Montana Hospital and
more.
The Chamber
facilitates the Community Tree Lighting activities each year at the Town
Square, along with Kicks @ 6! and the S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Market.
Programs
Programs sponsored by the Chamber like Christmas Cash and
the Havre Gift Certificates are made available to members only. Both of these
programs keep thousands of dollars in Havre, supporting the businesses that
support our community every day of the year. The Check Alert program helps to
protect your businesses from bad checks.
Committees
The 13 working committees of the Chamber provide an
opportunity to volunteer and share your personal expertise and talent and be a
partner is making Havre a great place to live and work. The return can
fulfilling and rewarding. The PR, networking and fun is priceless.
